extra credit reading notes: persian tales part a
out of control man with a horse
a wolf cleverly stole the children of a goat. the goat went to rescue her children and demanded that they fight for them. They each took some time to prepare for the fight. The goat gathered up a bag full of fine butters and cheeses, and gave it to somebody to sharpen her horns. The wolf filled a bag with air, so it looked like it was full, and gave it to somebody to sharpen his teeth, but instead, the dentist pulled out all of his teeth and replaced them with cotton, that looked sharp. The goat was able to outsmart the wolf, kill him, and get her kids back.A girl went to market to buy some ointment for two eggs, but she supposedly lost the eggs and started describing what sounded like some crazy fever dream, the more it went the more she lost, and the crazier and crazier ways she went about finding it. sounded like me when I'm really trying to embellish a story.
A man had a wife and seven children, and they were all struggling to make ends meat. the man ran into somebody claiming to be his long lost sister, who took the man and his family in and fed them all well. One night the wife discovers that this women is a wolf and tells her husband. He does not believe her. The next day, the wife took all of their children to their home, and when the man awoke to this, he told his "sister" that they left because they thought her to be a wolf. That night, she does indeed turn into a wolf and eats the man, leaving him with only one thought, "i should have listened to my wife"
There was a man who happened to hit two mice with one thing, so the people that saw this claimed that he should be an archer, and he could bring down two lions with one shot. they appeared to be joking, but this man took this to heart and spent his money on a bow and arrows, and engraved upon the bow his name and that he can slay two lions with one blow. A soldier saw this and asked if he was really that good of a shot, and with confidence he said yep. He was promptly taken to the king and hired, where all he did was eat and drink until a battle happen to break out. They put him on a horse for battle, but since he did not know how to ride, he asked that they tie his feet together underneath the horse. The horse got out of control and started galloping at full speed. The man tried to stop it by grabbing on to the branch of a tree, but ended up uprooting the entire tree. Now he was, waiving a tree above his head, galloping at full speed, and screaming seize the reins. The enemy saw and heard this, and were terrified and immediately began to retreat. The man was greatly rewarded for this and was promptly made commander-in-chief. perception is stronger than reality.
a mouse lost its tail and asked somebody to sew it back on. They wanted something from somebody, and if they got it, they would help the mouse. the mouse kept asking people and kept getting the same response, until it had a long list to tell to everyone.
