Semicolon comic Link I think it is really cool how language can be viewed in certain ways that lets us try and trace back from whence it came. it is treated in very much the same way as a family tree. and beyond that, we can use it to see where a certain group may have migrated, based upon which words they have picked up. the video about tenses was interesting. It quickly got really complicated, but I feel like french is much more specific about it. we are vague and use a lot of words to describe a specific tense, while french has different endings for all of the different tenses. I like how much work has gone into creating fictional languages. I particularly like how Tolkien elvish split off into various tribes and how the language changed and evolved from there. I love the way that they chose to explain semicolons; they did it in a cool video game esque fashion. here is a link to the language, grammar, and punctuation videos

week 8 progress

Mmm coffee  Link I am fairly happy with my progress thus far. I have missed a few assignments here and there, but I am still getting an A and doing some extra credit along to keep up. My weekly routine certainly is not the greatest. I feel like I am barely keeping up and always doing things the night they are due. The weekends tend to be the hardest. Moving forward I would like to be a little more on top of all of the assignments. I have really been enjoying creating my portfolio. I am able to put a lot of extra care into those stories and the site and I feel like it definitely shows. Everything is going good, I just want to get better at managing my time.

week 8 comments and feedback

Image
I think that I am receiving pretty good feedback from others. They are pointing some things out that I had not thought of and I find that it is beneficial to my stories. I always enjoy seeing when somebody like my stories, it makes me feel good. I think I am giving pretty good feedback. A lot of the feedback I give is positive trying to encourage people, but I am not afraid to put out things that are confusing or that I think can be improved upon. I looked back on my introduction and I think it gives people a good idea of who I am. I am content with my comment wall, it is simple and gets my point across.   a cat feedback meme Link I like this cat meme because I think patterns in feedback are really important. If the same patterns keep emerging, then it really shows what are the most important aspects that you need to work on.

week 8 reading and writing

Image
I think most of my work for this class has been pretty good. I think that my notes are sufficient for my purposes, they give me a good overview of the story and I sometimes put in any ideas that I may have for future stories. I have not written many stories, but I have enjoyed the ones that I have written. The formatting is a little ruff from time to time, because it doesn't seem to want to separate into paragraphs, but if i write it in word than it keeps that formatting just fine. My favorite readings were definitely Persian fairy tales, part A. They were a lot of fun and I have written two stories in relation to those readings. Part A feels like it has a much different vibe from part B for some reason. Picture that I took of my roommate Jacob This is my favorite picture that I have used so for, and is just one of my favorite pictures in general. It makes me laugh. I show this picture to people whenever I am talking about Jacob or if they know him and haven't seen it ye

Week 7 story: A Charley Tells a Tale

Image
A Charley Tells a Tale  A Barrel of Monkeys Link This story can now be view in my portfolio here .   There was once a Charley who needed to go out and buy milk for the apartment. He went up to his roommate Jacob and collected some of the money that he was owed. With money now in hand, he was off to get the milk. Charley got home after going out and Jacob asked Charley where the milk was. Charley proceeded to tell Jacob a fantastical story of what went on after he had left to go buy milk. “So, I left the apartment, and as I was walking by the balcony, I noticed some money in the grass below. I thought how serendipitous, I can go get that money and buy more than just milk. I rushed downstairs as fast as I could in order to quickly seize the money. As I got closer, I realized that it was a twenty-dollar bill. That is enough to buy us a weeks’ worth of groceries!” This is when Jacob abruptly asked why I didn’t have any groceries then. Charley replied that he was getti

two frogs standing atop one another Link two separate frogs decided to go on a journey across their country. They both started on one end and were going were the other was coming from. they met in the middle atop a mountain and decide to climb ato the others back to see if where they were headed was worth it. they did this and stretched out as long as they could, but whilst their nose was facing the right town, their eyes were gazing upon the town they came from.
